THE PROBLEM
Creating a consumer facing product in the rapidly growing Hemp and CBD Market without any ability to rely on mainstream advertising platforms.
The OBSERVATION
A lot of early CBD products tied into the connection with marijuana, but there was a growing number of people who didn’t want that association.
THE SOLUTION
Creating an accessible lifestyle brand that was more than just CBD (and distanced itself from anything related to marijuana), and focused on the bigger picture of overall health and wellness.

THE CAMPAIGN
After testing our products with a wide network, notes were pouring in about how our CBD products were helping manage chronic issues and concerns like nothing before. In a word, it was inspiring. The more letters we read, the more we realized we needed a brand name that captured the warm and heart felt messages we were getting. We wanted our name to be a shorthand for that feeling - and that’s how Sunshine was born. We chose Sunshine because in a way, that’s what we were giving people - the warmth and joy of taking getting their quality of life back. The idea of spreading Sunshine also became a bigger mission within the company ; from the way we treated customers, vendors and employees.
PACKAGE & LABEL DESIGN
SOCIAL MEDIA & Graphic Design
To help drive home the idea that Sunshine is a warm, inclusive company, we developed social media cards to share empowering and inspiring messages. We relied on type design and font treatments to help separate Sunshine messaging from competitors and help drive brand ID. Because paid ads on Google and all social platforms is not permitted, organic growth became essential.
product innovation
While learning about “Spagyric” extraction methods - and the cult following Spagyric products have - we decided to create a sub-brand that utilized this unique method. We called it Funk because it’s a funky process, and because it utilizes more of the plant’s minerals, it’s got a bit of a funky taste.
EMMITT’S PET HEMP
Pet CBD is an industry all to itself, so to help make a product specific to that market - we developed Emmitt’s Pet Hemp.

With a new industry and a lot of confusion with its Cannabis cousin, getting good information out was essential to establishing credibility. To help do that, we created various infographics to help customers make better, more informed decisions.
RESULTS: $800,000 in Year 1 sales
Sunshine quickly developed a passionate fan base in the first year, selling majority on their e-commerce platform and brick and mortar distribution.
